While blogging is an informal outlet for student research, there are more formal ways to present or publish such writing. Consider these categories:
- Academic Archives
- Academic Conferences
- Academic Journals
- Academic Blogging
1. Academic Archives
- Submit your finished work to an academic archive or institutional repository that will accept undergraduate work. Example: Brigham Young University's ScholarsArchive
- See this list of bookmarks for undergraduate conferences to which you can submit your paper. Prominent among these is the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR)
- Submit to the National Undergraduate Literature Conference (held annually at Weber State University, Utah)
- Search Google for "Call for papers" and "conference" or "Call for submissions" and "conference" plus any other topical search terms. For example, click here to search for calls for papers or calls for submissions related to shakespeare dated 2013 or 2104.
- Search Twitter for "undergraduate conference" or try a hashtag search like #shakespeare #conference. Similarly, search Topsy (Example, a search of links to Shakespeare conferences or a search for Shakespeare and "call for papers")
- Check the WikiCFP (call for papers wiki) for conferences related to literature or conferences related to the humanities. (Also, use their iPhone app)
- Search the Penn English Call-for-papers site, or browse one its categories, like Renaissance.
- Search or browse the H-net Calls for Papers site
- Check the Conference Alerts site under the topics of Literature or English
- Search Google for "Call for papers" and "Shakespeare" or "Call for submissions" and "Shakespeare" plus any other topical search terms. For example, click here to search for calls for papers or calls for submissions related to Shakespeare dated 2013 or 2104 (or the same search but more generally for undergraduates and not Shakespeare)
- Find a journal related to the topic you are searching, then search for a call for papers or submissions for that journal. For example, the journal Shakespeare recently posted a call for papers about Shakespeare and Japan.
4. Academic Blogging
- Become a guest blogger on an established blog devoted to a relevant topic
- Call for Guest Bloggers - Perspectives on Undergraduate Research and Mentoring
- Search for "guest blogger" and "Shakespeare" (try that search here).
- Example of a guest student blogger at Blogging Shakespeare
