Here's my Bibliography. Also, I agree with David: I'm not going to subject you to a huge wall of text, so enjoy this cute little meme. Happy Easter!

Diverse Methods of Finding
  • Library Research Guide: “Oaths, Threats and Henry V,” John Kerrigan, Review of English Studies (2012) 63(261): 551-571 first published online December 7, 2011; This article works through the various types of oaths performed in Henry V. Kerrigan analyzes Henry’s language. What is most applicable to me is his counter-viewpoint about the scene with Katharine. He thinks Henry is using binding language as another manipulative tool.
  • ·         *Source Found in Bibliography: Shakespeare: The Invention of the Human, Harold Bloom, New York: Riverhead, 1998., 1998; In this book, Bloom talks about why we consider Shakespeare to be so influential from everything from our mythology to psychology. This is relevant for my paper because it discusses the realness of Shakespeare’s characters and what it means to be human.
  • ·        *Source Recommended by Enthusiast: Fisher, Jeffery. Henry V : Notes, Including Life Of Shakespeare, Background Of Henry V, Genealogical Tables, Plot Summary Of Henry V, List Of Characters, Summaries And Commentaries, Sixteenth-Century Political Theory, Questions For Review, Selected Bibliography. n.p.: Cliffs Notes, 1981. eBook Collection (EBSCOhost). Web. 30 Mar. 2013. My friend knew that I was working on finding background information about Henry’s prior plays, and she suggested that I find this book.
  • ·         *Source within Scholarly Edition of Primary Text: “Shakespeare, Machiavelli, and Montaigne : power and subjectivity from Richard II to Hamlet” Hugh Grady, New York: Oxford University Press, 2002; This book focuses on reading Shakespeare in light of Machiavelli and Montaigne. This is important to my paper because I look at Henry’s leadership skills and how he interacts with others and these two writers were discussed various leadership styles.

Diverse Types of Sources
  • ·         eBook: Henry V, Eric Rasmussen and Jonathan Bates, New York: Modern Library, 2010, c2007, 2010 Modern Library pbk. Ed; This source gives background information about the play, Henry V, and Shakespeare himself.
  • ·         Scholarly Article: “The Problem of Henry V,” Malcolm Pittock, Neophilologus, 2009, Vol.93(1), pp.175-190, 2009; This paper argues that although Shakespeare may have wanted to write a nationalist play, his knowledge that Henry V was unjustified in his claim to France complicated the goal of presenting Henry as a true war hero. The part that is particularly relevant to my paper is complexity of Henry as a character and Shakespeare’s genius at being able to portray him like that.
  • ·         Source Found in Special Collections: “Providence and policy : A Study of Shakespeare's Henry V,” Hebertson, Jonathan W.

Diverse Time of Sources
  • ·         One New Source: Henry V, See notes from above.
  • ·         One Older source: Shakespeare: The Invention of the Human Mind, See notes from above.
  • ·         One Old Source: “The Courtship Scene in Henry V,” Jorgensen, Paul A., Modern Language Quarterly, 1950, Vol.11, pp.180-188, 1950; This article is helpful to me because it analyzes and focuses on Henry’s conversation with Katharine which has been of particular importance to me from the beginning. Most articles and sources have only briefly mentioned this scene.
