I had to share this! I was on a discussion in Goodreads and a few people were talking about how they successfully teach Shakespeare in their classrooms.
My paper, on the other hand is seeing what successful ways kids can learn Shakespeare on their own outside of the classroom. I decided to jump in on the teacher discussion because I'm sure they have great things to share.
I'm looking for examples of adolescent targeted Video (particularly TV), Audio, performance, and perhaps children's books that help kids get excited about/ learn Shakespeare. I feel the need to target on particular play. I'm thinking about doing Hamlet since it is one of the most adapted plays after Romeo and Juliet.
Anyway, long story short: a teacher made some raps to help teach his kids. They're on itunes and everything. Go Bob!

hahah "Should I be jolly...gosh oh golly"
Realistically, I think these are too long to really keep anyone's attention let alone an adolescent. What do you think?
That is really awesome, Kara. A ten-minute long rap is pretty long.
ReplyDeleteKara, I was just about to post a link to this discussion group on Shakespeare that I thought might be interesting, when I realized one of the guys in the discussion is the teacher you mentioned! Are you in the "Shakespeare Fans" group?
ReplyDeleteI am! I just joined. Great minds think alike!
