How do we use historical context in plays written about real people? More specifically, this is something I find interesting to consider from Julius Caesar. Regardless of what happened in Shakespeare's play, and what other things happened in history, we know that Marcus Antonius did go after Caesar's killers.
I want to leave you all with one question; how does the Friends Romans Countrymen speech fit into historical and fictional context?
I like your idea of comparing what really did happen with what Shakespeare decided to say happened because it's different from other fictions where the author just gets to choose the entire story. For Henry V, we definitely see that Shakespeare tried to use the same timeline as what actually happened, but that in fact made the play harder to read because all of a sudden he was skipping ahead, not using Henry's travel back to England, just so he could get to the part about making the treat and wooing Katherine.
