5 Thesis Attempts
[Causal] Although there are many cases where crimes were committed by truly insane individuals, the trend of using insanity as an excuse for doing unlawful things is caused by Shakespeare's portrayal of insanity because it is taught at almost all age levels, this is how insanity was treated medically during Shakespeare's time, and the tragedies suggest only natural consequences that come from insanity rather than consequences upheld by law.
[Comparison] Although there are many differences between Shakespeare's day and ours, they are alike because both use insanity as a cover-all excuse for making wrong choices.
[Policy] Although they are established resources for teaching English world-wide, Shakespeare plays should not be taught in schools because it teaches that insanity is a valid excuse for making wrong choices.
[Definition] Although there are repercussions for criminals diagnosed with insanity, many Shakespeare plays teach that insanity is an easy way out for criminal actions because they reap natural consequences rather than consequences established by law.
[Evaluation] Although Shakespeare plays are great literary resources, they are bad influences on today's society because they send a message that insanity can be an excuse for wrong doing.

Your causal thesis is very well thought out, and the definition one also makes a strong, specific statement. However, it seems like the other three take a step back to generally talk about insanity and how it generally affects crime. I would like to see more detailed versions.
